It's time to READ, READ, READ! Our PS 39 annual Read-A-Thon is a chance to read, win prizes and raise money for our beloved Author Visit Program. Our read-a-thon raises money to invite award winning authors such as Matt de La Pena, Nathan Hale, Stephen Savage, Andrea Davis Pinkney, Jacqueline Woodson, and more... plus, every students receives a signed copy of a book from their grade level's visiting author! Learn more on our Read-a-thon page.
PS39 is continuing our partnership with the Tenement Museum on their “Your Story, Our Story” project. “Your Story, Our Story” started in a Brooklyn middle school and has expanded to high school and colleges. Last year PS 39 was the pilot school for their expansion into elementary school and we are excited to participate again. This project allows our children to celebrate their unique, rich, family histories. We know that by sharing our stories we are helping to strengthen our community. Learn more about this project on our Your Story, Our Story page.
This week is a chance to recognize the love and care that our teachers and staff give to our students. Please take a few minutes to read about all the ways you can say "thanks!" on our Staff Appreciation Flyer. Students and families can use this special Thank You Note template to go with our garden theme to share their kind words. And please sign up to donate an item to our Garden Party luncheon on Thursday, May 9.
For families that have questions or concerns about their child's progress this year, have questions about the transition to the next grade level, or would like information about how to support their child over the summer, we will be offering additional conference time with your teacher as well as with our cluster teachers (science, art, music, and physical education).
Online sign ups for the May 15 Family Engagement night is now open. Sign up for appointments for our May Conference Night.
Families may also set up an appointment with their teacher on Tuesdays (2:50 -3:20 pm).
