As a parent or guardian of a PS 39 student, you are a Member of The Parent Association.  Our PA is a critical part of the school community, bringing together teachers, staff, parents, and children for community events; fundraising and supporting enrichment programs, classroom supplies, and teacher training; and working to make PS 39 a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant school environment. Whether you can donate just a few hours of your time for a community event or sign up to chair a committee, your involvement is welcome and critical!

​Our activities fall under five main categories:

  •  Develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement;
  •  Foster and encourage parent participation on all levels;
  • Develop a cooperative working relationship between the parents and staff of our school; 
  • Provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision-making; 
  • Provide support and resources to the school for the benefit and educational
growth of the students.

In addition to receiving announcements from the PA on ParentSquare, our community app, you can follow PS 39 on Instagram here for updates about community events.


Monthly General Members meetings provide families the chance to come together and socialize, hear Board, School and District updates, and discuss issues and address concerns.  Our meetings provide the opportunity to discuss new initiatives which help guide the future goals of our community as a whole.
​General Members are encouraged to submit agenda items for these meetings using our Agenda Items Form or by e-mailing presidents@ps39.org​ ​with any topics you have. We understand that many families are unable to attend but want to participate. Please know that your voice matters and we want to hear from you.
