PS 39 READ-A-THON 2019
"STORIES HELP US LEARN HOW WE ALL FIT TOGETHER"
May 13 -19 during National Screen Free Week

Picture
It's time to READ, READ, READ!  Our PS 39 annual Read-A-Thon is a chance to read, win prizes and raise money for our beloved Author Visit Program.  Our read-a-thon raises money to invite award winning authors such as Matt de La Pena, Nathan Hale, Stephen Savage, Andrea Davis Pinkney, Jacqueline Woodson, and more... plus, every students receives a signed copy of a book from their grade level's visiting author!

LOG YOUR DAILY MINUTES:
Use the links below to log your minutes every day to be included in your grade level's progress on our Read-a-thon bulletin board
Monday, May 13
Tuesday, May 14
Wednesday, May 15
Thursday, May 16
Friday, May 17
Saturday & Sunday, May 18-19

Don't forget to log on your paper log to turn in as well!
Join the fun!  Here's how:
  1. Bring home a read-a-thon envelope with a reading log & sponsor sheet on Friday, May 10.
  2. Set a one-week reading goal (see below for suggested goals by grade level) and recruit sponsors if you wish to raise money for our author program.
  3. READ and log your minutes! Students can read by themselves or be read to by an adult or sibling- everything counts (EVEN reading homework!).
  4. NEW THIS YEAR: Daily minutes log online! Every day families will receive an email with a special message and a link to log minutes for that day. This info will be used to tally each grade’s reading totals every day on the cafeteria bulletin board. Please make a special exception for screen-free week for this activity!
  5. Return the Read-a-Thon log/ sponsor sheet in the envelope provided to school by Thursday, May 30th.
Tax-deductible donations can be made via cash or check (made payable to PS 39 Parent Association)
