New this year: In addition to report cards, all students will have assessment portfolios.
What is an Assessment Portfolio?
A portfolio is a collection of your child's assessment and written work in all subject areas. It will include:
- Samples of your child's classroom work
- Copies of formal assessments
- Grade level benchmarks
The Portfolio will provide families with the context connected to the assessments used for report card grades. These portfolios will provide you a comprehensive understanding of how your child is progressing in each content area and will be shared with families several times during the year.
What can I do to make my child's portfolio as useful as possible?
In order for portfolios to be the informative tools that we intend them to be we feel that it's essential for parents to be fully educated on their contents and how to interpret it. Parents are encouraged to the presentation (click on the image to the left) from our workshop as a guide to understanding their child's portfolio.
