The big apple crunch is a NYC-wide event that helps to remind everyone about the importance of eating healthy. The goal is to get 1,000,000 New Yorkers to “crunch” an apple at Noon on October 24th (National Food Day). Why apples? Apples are an easy and healthy snack that are grown abundantly in NY State. This event promotes healthy living while celebrating our NYS delicious fruit (we are the Big Apple after all….)
On Friday October 24, we will ask all children to bring in an apple with their lunch. In addition, the cafeteria will be providing apples as part of school lunch. During each lunch period, there will be a brief (excitement building ) announcement and count down for students to “crunch” their apple altogether. Comments are closed.
