It's time to READ, READ, READ! Our PS 39 annual Read-A-Thon is a chance to read, win prizes and raise money for our beloved Author Visit Program. Our read-a-thon raises money to invite award winning authors such as Matt de La Pena, Nathan Hale, Stephen Savage, Andrea Davis Pinkney, Jacqueline Woodson, and more... plus, every students receives a signed copy of a book from their grade level's visiting author! PS39 is continuing our partnership with the Tenement Museum on their “Your Story, Our Story” project. “Your Story, Our Story” started in a Brooklyn middle school and has expanded to high school and colleges. Last year PS 39 was the pilot school for their expansion into elementary school and we are excited to participate again. This project allows our children to celebrate their unique, rich, family histories. We know that by sharing our stories we are helping to strengthen our community. This week is a chance to recognize the love and care that our teachers and staff give to our students. Please take a few minutes to read about all the ways you can say "thanks!" on our Staff Appreciation Flyer. Students and families can use this special Thank You Note template to go with our garden theme to share their kind words. And please sign up to donate an item to our Garden Party luncheon on Thursday, May 9.
For families that have questions or concerns about their child's progress this year, have questions about the transition to the next grade level, or would like information about how to support their child over the summer, we will be offering additional conference time with your teacher as well as with our cluster teachers (science, art, music, and physical education).

Families may also set up an appointment with their teacher on Tuesdays (2:50 -3:20 pm).

Hosted by PS 39's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and sponsored by the PS 39 Parent Association, this second workshop will build upon the work in Workshop I, delve more into how children see race and give participants the chance to role play to learn and practice skills for approaching age-appropriate conversations using a racial equity lens.
NOTE: You do not have to have attended Workshop I in order to participate in this workshop! We will share documents from the previous workshop for you to review ahead of time.

Childcare and activities will be available for school-aged children in the cafeteria.
A light dinner which will include gluten free & vegetarian options will be provided for participants and children in Rm 103. Just before the workshop begins, children can take their dinners down to the cafeteria.
A variety of ticket options are available to ensure all who want to attend this important training can attend.

Sunday, May 5 @ Yankee Stadium, 1:05 pm game vs. the Minnesota Twins. We have the rare and exciting opportunity to support our 4th grade teacher, Ms. Ottavino, and cheer on her son, Adam Ottavino, and his new team, the NY Yankees! Adam is also an alum of PS 39, so this will be an amazing event.
We have reserved a block of tickets in Section 208 between the Yankees dugout and the bullpen for the Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins game on Sunday, May 5th, at 1:05 pm. Due to limited availability, tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis to immediate family and 1 optional guest of PS 39 students and staff members.

Our Annual PS 39 Book Fair will be here on March 13 -14. All students will visit the book fair with their class during the school day on Wednesday, March 13. If you would like your child to be able to purchase a book, please send cash in a sealed envelope, labeled with your child's name and BOOK FAIR, on Wednesday, March 13. Books will be priced from $4- 20.
Families can also shop during conferences on Wednesday 3/13 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and Thursday 3/14 from 12:00 - 2:30pm.
