Armory Fitness Days
What are Armory Fitness Days?
Armory Days are select Wednesdays when our students get to enjoy extended physical activity with the other students on their grade in an expansive space. Children eagerly look forward to these dates of rigorous play.
How can I help?
Parent volunteers play a critical role in keeping our students safe so that they can enjoy the day safely. Our parent volunteers provide supplemental support to classroom teachers in managing activity stations. Parents interested in helping should sign up online using the links by grade level below.

As the instructional experts, classroom teachers take the lead during Armory Days under Mr. Monte’s direction. While Mr. Monte plans the activities, classroom teachers are responsible for directly managing the activities and student behavior for the duration of the visit. Our parent volunteers provide critical supplemental support to classroom teachers.

DO:
- Ask Mr. Monte which station you should supervise. Every classroom teacher should be assigned to a station for the duration of the visit. While parent volunteers may also be assigned to a station to assist you, Parent volunteers should remain at their assigned station for the duration of the visit to assist with the supervision of students.
- Actively supervise students at your station under the direction of the assigned classroom teacher.
- If you need a restroom break, inform the other person who is assigned to your station. Return to your station as quickly as possible.
- If a major behavioral issue arises, it is up to the classroom teacher assigned to the station to address it. Parent volunteers should not address major behavioral issues.
- In the event of a minor injury, respond as you would to a major behavioral issue.
- In the event of a serious injury, blow your whistle with 3 short blasts (repeated as necessary) so that Mr. Monte can respond immediately.
- Leave your assigned station for the duration of the visit.
- Engage in conversations with other parents. Students are engaged in active play and must have your full attention to be safe.
- Sit down on the bleachers. You cannot actively supervise students engaged in active play while seated.
- Use your cell phone as this may distract you from actively supervising students.
