Distance Learning "To Do" List
STEP ONE: Create your NYC DOE Student email account
Set up your child’s NYC DOE Student email address. The account gives your student access to Google Classroom and Microsoft Office 365. At PS 39, students must use this account for distance learning.
STEP TWO: Join your student’s Google Classroom
Using their NYC DOE email, join your child’s Google Classroom. Teachers have sent you the class code. Use this Parent’s Guide to Google Classroom resource to help you learn how to use Google Classroom.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must join their class using their NYC DOE email. They will not be allowed to use personal or a parent’s email address. Do not skip step one!
STEP THREE: Join the Cluster Google Classrooms
You should also join the grade level class for our four cluster areas: Art, Music, Gym and Science. You can find the grade level codes listed on this UPDATED Cluster Clasroom Code Document.
Each child must join their grade level cluster class through their own NYC DOE student email account. Cluster teachers will be providing different instruction for each grade level.
STEP FOUR: Help your student set up a schedule
Read the information that will be sent to you by your classroom teacher and cluster teachers about expectations for specific times that children should be logged in or when teachers will be available for support

Does your family have technology needs?
The DOE is lending internet-enabled iPads to support remote learning for students. If you would like to request a device for a NYC student in your family, please fill out the Request form. The DOE will use the contact information you provide to get in touch with you to discuss when and where you can pick up a device. Priority will be given to students most in need, and all devices are granted on a temporary basis and will later need to be returned. There is a limit of one device per student. |
