Guidance for Hybrid and Remote Learning

How Hybrid Learning Works

Hybrid learning combines in-class instruction and at-home learning. This allows us to limit the number of students in the building each day for safe social distancing, while still ensuring that students can benefit from direct interaction with teachers and peers.

Families who choose the hybrid model can move to remote at any time by notifying the principal and classroom teacher.

Remote Learning Information

  • All students will participate in remote learning in some way. Both hybrid (part-time in person and part-time remote) and full-time remote instruction will be provided by PS 39 teachers.
  • We are using  iLearn platform as our remote learning management system as it has single sign on and can provide assessment reports to teachers.
  • Synchronous instruction is to be provided daily to all students.
  • If a classroom or school needs to close due to suspected or confirmed cases, students will continue learning remotely.
Families have the option to choose 100% remote at any time and will be able to choose to move to hybrid on a quarterly basis.  See dates under Hybrid/Remote Decision Dates section.

Moving from Remote to Hybrid Learning

As was announced by the Mayor and Chancellor last Monday, the opt-in period has been postponed and expanded.

BEGINNING THIS WEEK, from Monday, November 2nd, through Sunday, November 15th, remote-only families have the opportunity to change their children's learning preference to hybrid or in-person instruction.

Further details about when the additional students will join hybrid instruction will be announced as soon as that information is available.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR PLANS WITH THE SCHOOL NOW by clicking on the link below and completing the survey. This information is critical and the sooner the school knows how many remote-only students plan to shift to hybrid instruction, the better the planning and programming will be.

Support for Special Needs Students

Delivering high quality Special Education programs and related services, providing accessible curriculum and interventions, student accommodations and specially designed instruction remain at the forefront of the planning to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities in a blended learning environment. Additionally, students receiving teletherapy will have the option to continue receiving services remotely.
