Welcome in the school year with a fantastically fun potluck celebration of the diversity and individuality of the P.S. 39 community! Bring a delicious dish (either from your family's heritage or a favorite) to share for the potluck! This is a wonderful opportunity to make a family recipe with your children and share the story of why this dish is special to your family. This is a free community event for the families and caregivers of all P.S. 39 students, teachers and staff. It will take place in the PS 39 schoolyard.
Parents are invited to visit their child's classroom and to learn about the grade level curriculum, teaching and assessment methods, and classroom schedules. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and will also be able to meet with our cluster teachers, academic intervention teachers and other support staff.
This event is designed for adults, children should not attend. LIMITED childcare will be available at PS 39.Please visit our FEATURE PAGE for more information about the schedule and childcare. We are very excited to welcome our new interim acting principal, Ms. Sara Panag. Please read this introduction letter from our District 15 Superintendent, Anita Skop.

PS39 is continuing our partnership with the Tenement Museum on their “Your Story, Our Story” project. “Your Story, Our Story” started in a Brooklyn middle school and has expanded to high school and colleges. Last year PS 39 was the pilot school for their expansion into elementary school and we are excited to participate again. This project allows our children to celebrate their unique, rich, family histories. We know that by sharing our stories we are helping to strengthen our community. Learn more about this project on our Your Story, Our Story page.
This week is a chance to recognize the love and care that our teachers and staff give to our students. Please take a few minutes to read about all the ways you can say "thanks!" on our Staff Appreciation Flyer. Students and families can use this special Thank You Note template to go with our garden theme to share their kind words. And please sign up to donate an item to our Garden Party luncheon on Thursday, May 9.
